Product Guides

Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times as fast as the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country — but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also interoperate with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment.

Since both standards are built in, you can protect your investment in existing 802.11b infrastructure, and migrate to the new screaming fast Wireless-G standard as your needs grow.

The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices. Connect four PCs directly, or daisy-chain out to more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection, files, and other resources such as printers and hard disk storage space.

To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G Broadband Router can encode all wireless transmissions using 128-bit WEP encryption, and also supports industrial-strength Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA) wireless security. The Router protects your PC from most known Internet attacks with a powerful Stateful Packet Inspection firewall. It can also serve as a DHCP Server, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet. And even with all this power, set up is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.

With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with the flexibility, speed, and security you need!

5 of 5 Refurb? No problem Tuesday, January 06, 2009
A Customer from Tucson, AZ

I was skeptical about getting refurbished items but a review changed my mind, and I'm glad it did. This looks brand new, works great, and was incredibly cheaper. I'd definately recommend this product, especially refurb'd. The review that helped me said this. A refurbished item that has been refurb'd by the manufacture has had the company who made it in the first place look it over and test it to make sure it works before you get it. How many of the "new" items get this attention? None. I'm sold.

5 of 5 Great router low price Monday, December 29, 2008
JD from Columbus, OH
I bought this for my mother who is not computer savvy. I wanted something that I knew I could set up quickly and would be problem free with no need to reset or mess with it at all. I have had the GL for over a year and have only had to reset it once.

4 of 5 Received v.5 unit, works all right w/ DD-WRT mini. Friday, December 05, 2008
A Customer from Cambridge, MA
Purchased this router not knowing which version it would be, hoping that somehow it would be a v.1-4 (more ram and flash memory), but received a v.5. I was still able to flash it with DD-WRT mini however, not a particularly difficult process, and now have very advanced controls including QoS. Now just wish I had a faster connection!

4 of 5 versions may vary Thursday, December 04, 2008
A Customer from Mooresville, North Carolina
with this being a refurb, I assume that's why I received a version 6.x router. Be careful if you want to use dd-wrt as version 7.2 routers are not able to be flashed. You may be safer buying a new unit for dd-wrt or other firmware flashing. I had problems with dd-wrt on this unit so I reverted to latest linksys firmware, set up a second wrt54g as a wireless bridge (dd-wrt) for xbmc. While it's not as fast as I would like the refurbished unit performs as would be expected. Overall a pretty solid router.

5 of 5 Very Pleased Sunday, November 16, 2008
A Customer from Iowa City, IA
I can't say that the software that was included worked perfectly. There were a few hiccups in installation, but the unit is working perfectly after 3 weeks.

4 of 5 Excellent refurbished product, installation not Ma Tuesday, November 11, 2008
Becki from Quincy, MA
I was a little wary of buying a refurbished, no-returns product, but bought it because Linksys offered a limited warranty. I'm glad I risked it. Our old router was temperamental, and this one has worked perfectly since we got it set up. ...The only complaint I have is that the installation is not Mac-friendly. I easily got onto a chat with a Linksys tech advisor online, and he directed me to a page that was supposed to show me how to set up the router on a Mac. But following the directions exactly did not work. I ended up booting my Intel-based Mac into Windows XP, a choice some would not have. The installation from Windows was AMAZINGLY easy.

3 of 5 Dizang. No DD-WRT compatible. Sunday, October 12, 2008
jimiyo from nashville, tn
I should have checked, but the router sent was v8.1 which is not currently supported by dd-wrt firmware upgrade. It doesn't matter though. I've used dd-wrt before and I know not of its power because I'm a dummy and don't know how to utilize it. Besides, I was just going to increase the signal output, but then I rigged it to where Im hardwired, so it makes no difference. The product is SOLID, but if you search for deals, you can find a comparable deal for about $25-$35 if you know where to look and if its the right time. Overall... great router anyways.
